NEWARK VEHICLE ENFORCEMENT TEAM TITLE VALIDATION STEPS: 1.) ALL INFORMATION ON THE DOCK RECEIPT MUST BE LEGIBLE. 2.) THE SHIPPER/EXPORTER INFORMATION MUST HAVE: A.) COMPLETE NAME. B.) PHYSICAL ADDRESS (P.O. BOXES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED) C.) CITY, STATE, ZIP AND TELEPHONE NUMBER. 3.) THE CONSIGNEE INFORMATION MUST HAVE: A.) COMPLETE NAME. B.) PHYSICAL STREET ADDRESS (P.O. BOXES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED) C.) CITY AND COUNTRY (NO ABBREVIATIONS FOR COUNTRIES) D.) THERE MUST BE A TELEPHONE # SHOWN FOR ALL CONSIGNEES. E.) PLEASE REFRAIN FROM USING THE WORDS “IN TRANSIT” ANYWHERE ON THE DOCK RECEIPT. 4.) PAPERWORK REQUIREMENTS: A.) ALONG WITH THE ORIGINAL TITLE THERE MUST BE FIVE (5) FRONT AND BACK COPIES. B.) NO COLOR COPIES OF TITLES WILL BE ACCEPTED. C.) IF YOU ARE SHIPPING A UNIT THAT IS NOT FOR USE ON ROADWAYS OR THAT MAY HAVE A TITLE I.E. BOATS, AGRICULTURAL EQUIPMENT (TRACKED OR RUBBER TIRED) CUSTOMS STILL WANTS TO SEE AN ORIGINAL, NOTARIZED BILL OF SALE MENTIONING THE SELLER, BUYER AND THE AMOUNT PAID FOR THE UNIT(S). 5.) IF THERE IS NO TITLE OR CURRENT REGISTRATION YOU MUST PROVIDE OFFICIAL DOCUMENTATION FROM THE DEPT. OF MOTOR VEHICLES PROVING OWNERSHIP OF THE VEHICLE. 6.) HAND WRITTEN CHANGES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED ON DOCK RECEIPTS. 7.) IF THERE IS A “LIEN HOLDER” MENTIONED ON THE TITLE, THERE MUST BE A SEPARATE ORIGINAL “LIEN RELEASE LETTER” (ON THAT COMPANIES LETTERHEAD), NOTARIZED + FIVE (5) COPIES SUBMITTED WITH THE TITLE. “LIEN RELEASE STAMPS” ON THE TITLE WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR UNITS THAT ARE 10 YEARS OLD AND OLDER. ANY UNITS 9 YEARS OLD AND NEWER MUST HAVE THE “LIEN RELEASE LETTER” ON LIEN HOLDERS LETTERHEAD (ORIGINAL) AND MUST BE “NOTARIZED” WITH FIVE (5) ADDITIONAL COPIES.
