Kuwait Car Import Rules: Saloon/ SUV/ Jeep/ Pick up: Not older than 5 years including current year (From model year 2019 to model year 2023 only allowed).

A Kuwaiti citizen is allowed to import maximum 01 car every 2 years under his personal name provided the car is not older than 5 years.

A registered company in Kuwait having valid/applicable import license that allows them to import vehicles may import any number of cars but provided the cars are not older than 5 years.

H&H Units: Not older than 20 yrs including current year (From model year 2004 to model year 2023 only allowed)

Vintage/ Classic Cars: 1 car can be imported by a Kuwaiti in his/her lifetime. Vintage/ Classic Cars are classified as being over 40 years old including current year – i.e. from year 1983 to year 2022 NOT classified as vintage/ classic car

Non-Kuwaitis are not allowed to import vehicles in their personal name.

Exceptions: Unique cars (few in the world) – if proved – need prior approval from Kuwait Ministry, Traffic & Customs.

Kuwaiti Students residing out of Kuwait, who used their cars in the residing country for over 2 years – if proved – need prior approval from Kuwait Ministry, Traffic & Customs.

Special need cases - need prior approval from Kuwait Ministry, Traffic & Customs.

Trans-shipments allowed: NO

Direct Delivery from the vessel can be taken 24 hours but used vehicles delivery is only allowed from 0800 hrs to 1700 hrs (Saturday to Thursday) (Friday - weekend holiday).

As Per Kuwait Ports Authority, all break bulk / RORO cargo should be taken on direct delivery basis or else Port Authority may not allow vessel to berth.

During Summer Months from June till August due to ambient temperatures running too high, government issues work ban for outdoor workers between 11AM-4PM. Normally there is a lunch break from 12-1pm and then a shift change at 6pm and the stevedores manage to work till 12pm
